Samsung VP-HMX20 Review

User Rating: / 1
PoorBest

200x150_17Samsung is coming into its own on the camcorder front, with the Samsung HMX20 -- not to be confused with the standard def MX20 -- building on the everyman appeal of the HMX10. It's a sleeker, more confident beast, but how does the £650 camcorder stand up to the established likes of Canon and Sony?

Kodak Zi6 Review

E-mail Print PDF

200x150_16The Kodak Zi6 is technically an HD camcorder the way a tomato is technically a fruit: it meets the definition, but doesn't deliver the experience. True, the £130 Zi6 records video in 1,280x720-pixel resolution at both 30 frames per second and 60fps -- 720p resolution -- which technically qualifies it as an HD camcorder, but many factors go into creating an image, not just a CMOS sensor capable of capturing an image at a certain resolution and frame rate.

Samsung VP-MX20 Review

E-mail Print PDF

200x150_14The Samsung VP-MX20 is a standard definition, flash memory camcorder. At around £150, it's an affordable option for those who don't need high definition but want something a step up from the burgeoning mini-camcorder sector.

Design
The HG21 is pretty chunky. The right-hand side has a ridge that gives you plenty of room to curl your fingers around and grip.

Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 Review

E-mail Print PDF

200x150_13The Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 is a waterproof camcorder that's up to the challenge of holidays, adventures and wet weekends. It will set you back around £210, and is available now.

Design
The CA8 is waterproof to 1.5m, so it's suitable for paddling or perhaps snorkelling, rather than full-on Scuba diving.
